Welcome to the Arts and Humanities Council of SWLA. The council was founded in 1979 by the Junior League of Lake Charles. Our organization has transformed and grown into a state recognized non-profit that serves a 5-parish area.

We are proud to be in Historic Central School, a designated arts and humanities building, and are honored to be stewards for its preservation by the City of Lake Charles.

With our partners, the City of Lake Charles, the Calcasieu Police Jury, the Convention and Visitors Bureau of SWLA and the Louisiana Division of the Arts, we distribute 4 grants a year. Throughout the year we host multiple events including the popular Live @ the Lakefront and Spring Art Walk.

With a wonderful community of supporters, we are able to encourage the spread of arts and culture in our area and beyond. If you would like more information on how to support our organization, please feel free to call us, we’ll be happy to assist!
